Everyone needs a holiday from time to time, and most families are willing to save up the money to splurge on a really great trip. Because let’s face it when times are tough the only thing you can think about doing is getting away. But, you might be wondering, are there ways to save while you are on UK holidays? Do you really have to spend a ton of money to relax? Well, the great news is that you can save money on vacation and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to do it.
If you are not a resident of the UK its good to carry some cash with you. It might be hard to find a place that takes a credit card or even locate an ATM. Plus, to use an ATM that is not affiliated with your bank, can really rack up some ATM usage fees. So, save yourself time and money, and just have your cash with you, however, don’t EVER carry all your cash on you. Store your money in a safe place in your room, or ask the hotel if they have a safe you can use, that way you only have to have on you what you will need for that day.
Take snacks with you, you will be surprised how much this will save you and the convenience of it, especially with all the individual packages of chips, cookies, etc. that you can buy in bulk. Gas stations are usually overpriced since that is where they earn most of their profit. So, even if it’s just for the road trip or the plane ride, be sure to have lots of extra snacks on hand.
Consider public transportation or walking. Hotels usually offer free parking to their guests, so consider leaving your car there and taking the bus. If you’re beachfront, why not walk to a nearby attraction or restaurant. Not only will you get to take in the beautiful view, but you will also save yourself some gas cash.
